Honor Those Who Taught You By Carrying the Flame Forward

As a strategic advisor to senior leaders, I’m often teaching that one of the roles that all leaders have is to instill in others values, open doors to new opportunities, share information and skills to carry on the mission.

While watching Robert Irwin talk with Jimmy Fallon on the Tonight Show, I couldn’t help but think of what a wonderful job Robert’s dad, the Australian wildlife expert and tv personality who you may recall as “the Crocodile Hunter” – did in sharing his infectious enthusiasm for animals and talking about them to educate, entertain, and raise awareness.

At 13, Robert has his dad’s charm as well as deep knowledge and affection for animals. It’s easy to imagine Steve’s presence and deft step out of the spotlight so he could observe and note, “It’s all good, mate. It’s all good.” Well done, Steve, well done.
