When preparing for a presentation, how can you get support with the administrative tasks during your talk?

You’ve got at least three choices when faced with this situation.

  1. You can include it in your agreement with the meeting planner. Even written items aren’t always followed, so be prepared to remind the on-site contact when you arrive of the things you need done to make the presentation go well for the participants.
  2. If the organizers don’t come through, you can ask people in the audience for help prior to the presentation. “”Say, it would be a big help to me and the other folks nearby to not be distracted by the exit door slamming shut when people left for the restroom or to take a call. Would you take responsibility for muffling that sound during the talk?””
  3. As a fallback position, be prepared to do the tasks yourself. Make a checklist and follow it.
