Where to go to find out if a story is a hoax

Do you have any clients, associates, friends or relatives who feel compelled to forward every e-mail story, virus warning, and bogus offer? Their hearts may be in the right place, but their unexamined e-mail becomes more dreaded than welcomed. Maybe they’d check before they forward to everyone in their address book if they just knew where to look. Here are two sites to debunk urban legands, stories with dire warnings, or too good to be true offers/surpises/secrets:

  • Snopes.com
  • Scambusters.com

A good reference on urban legends can be found on Wikipedia .
